Monitoring Anti-Resorptive Therapy with Dpd

Changes in Dpd are helpful to monitor the effectiveness of antiresorptive therapy such as estrogen or bisphosphonates. Elevated Dpd levels should decline to within the expected range of 2.5 - 6.5 nM/mM Creatinine within three months of treatment.

The suggested Medicare guideline recommends one to two baseline tests followed by a repeat test about three months after therapy. Monitor annually after levels are within a normal range.
